- Z-Anatomy credits Gauthier Kervyn (design, 3D, anatomy), Marcin Zielinski (Blender add-on), and Kousaku Okubo (original BodyParts3D).
- Z-Anatomy also credits “Brainder” and “White matter” from University of Washington, and “Cranial Nerves and Foramina” by University of Dundee, CAHID (CC BY 4.0). Retain these credits with nervous-system assets.
- Browser-ready conversion: Liyucheng1997/242_lab-human-anatomy. Its README states extraction from Z-Anatomy Startup.blend using Blender and Draco-compressed GLB export, preserving structure names. A separate conversion copyright/license statement was not identified; original model licenses remain applicable.

Git blob identifiers and original file sizes are saved in index.json. anatomy.json includes English/Latin/Chinese names and Chinese descriptions from the conversion project; its prose has not been medically verified and need not be reused for geometry attribution.

## Modifications and uncertainty

The *-sanitized.glb files are derivatives produced by Codex for this task. Annotation mesh nodes ending .g.001 or .j.001 were removed. This includes one potentially anatomical mesh, Pharynx.j.001, to comply with the requested broad annotation filter. Bilateral kidney geometry and conservative ear-region exclusions (cochlea, vestibule, cochlear/vestibular nerves, auditory tube, tympanic membrane) were removed. Removed mesh/accessor/buffer-view data was physically pruned and the binary buffer repacked, not merely hidden. See sanitization-report.json and sanitize.rb for the exact modifications. Derivative geometry is distributed under CC BY-SA 4.0, with underlying BodyParts3D attribution retained.

Reason for exclusions: although the Z-Anatomy README makes a broad CC BY-SA 4.0 declaration, it separately lists “Anatomy of the Inner Ear” by University of Dundee School of Medicine as CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 and “Kidney” by Lissie Cowley as CC BY-NC 4.0. The source does not map every derived mesh to its provenance. The exclusions reduce that ambiguity but do not constitute a complete independent rights audit or establish that every potentially affected derivative was identified. University of Washington assets also lack an explicit license in the upstream attribution list. Do not claim the entire mixed upstream collection has independently verified unrestricted commercial rights.

## Viewer implementation notes

All models require KHR_draco_mesh_compression (Three.js DRACOLoader). They share aligned coordinates: Y is up, body height approximately 1.70 metres, centre near [0,0.855,0]. Anterior anatomy is toward +Z (inferred from the nose/eyes geometry); initial camera can use [0,0.95,2.7] and target [0,0.85,0]. Anatomical left is +X. Exact bounds from glTF POSITION accessor bounds transformed through nodes are in bounds.json; these are conservative transformed bounds, not decoded vertex extrema.

Names retain spaces and Blender suffixes (e.g., Biceps brachii.l.001). A UI display name can strip the trailing numeric duplicate suffix then interpret .l/.r as left/right. Three.js may sanitize node names; preserve source node-name metadata or account for spaces becoming underscores.

The skeleton layer has bones and nasal/laryngeal/costal cartilage, but no complete joints or ligaments layer. The muscular layer contains bilateral inguinal ligaments and superficial transverse metacarpal/metatarsal ligaments (six meshes). Nervous contains bilateral suspensory ligaments of eyeball (two meshes). Do not imply comprehensive joint anatomy coverage from this asset subset.

## Interactive motion prototype (2026-09-19)

The viewer bakes node transforms and applies original, temporary vertex rotations/blended deformation to the right upper limb for wrist, elbow, shoulder and chest-opening demonstrations. Bone meshes rotate rigidly; soft-tissue deformation is schematic and is not a validated simulation of contraction, nerve excursion or tissue mechanics. These displayed geometry adaptations retain the model attribution and CC BY-SA 4.0 terms above. Reset restores the original transformed vertices.

### Hierarchical upper-limb rig update (2026-09-19)

Added an original shoulder/elbow/wrist THREE.Bone hierarchy with rigid bone assignment and normalized dual-quaternion blending for soft-tissue vertices. Weights are estimated from mesh names and rest-space position, not authored or validated by an anatomist. Combined shoulder abduction/flexion, elbow flexion and wrist flexion/extension are supported on the right side. There is no scapulothoracic rhythm, contact solver, nerve-glide solver, tension computation, or evidence of symptom causality. Model and deformed geometry attribution and share-alike terms remain unchanged.

### Shoulder and organ viewer update (2026-09-20)

Added schematic humeral-axis internal/external rotation and shoulder extension, with restricted demonstration ranges rather than normative clinical ROM. The scapula remains fixed; tissue attachments and collision are not clinically validated. Existing visceral meshes use modified illustrative colors and selection transparency. No new organ geometry was added. See coverage.html for the complete deployed mesh inventory and known omissions. Existing attribution and share-alike terms remain unchanged.

### Thoracic attachment correction (2026-09-20)

Latissimus dorsi and pectoralis major now use conservative asset-space torso masks and weighted humeral displacement instead of broad dual-quaternion shoulder rotation. Normals are recomputed for the deformed sheets. These masks are approximations, not clinically validated muscle-fibre attachments, volume-preserving deformation, collision or fascial force transmission. Deployed-asset regression tests verify stationary torso regions and the opposite side, humeral movement, and independence from elbow/wrist motion.

### Cutaneous nerve rig correction (2026-09-20)

Medial brachial and antebrachial cutaneous nerves are explicitly included in arm motion classification. Thoracodorsal and pectoral nerves use the corresponding thoracic muscle masks; intercostal and long thoracic nerves remain fixed with the thorax. This corrects omitted rig classification, not a validated nerve-excursion simulation.
